Tornadoes are more usually associated with America than East Anglia. But beef and sheep farmer Alan Barrow is lucky to be alive after a twister tore straight through his farm yard.

The beef and sheep farmer expects to spend the next six months clearing up the mess after a ‘twister’ left a trail of destruction near Halstead.

Repairing the damage to 10 farm buildings will cost £100,000, says Mr Barrow, who was knocked to the ground as a barn roof was torn off.
